Black bear hunting at Blue Walleye Outpost at Lac Achepabanca Quebec is incredible! Our outpost is tucked away in the corner of the vast untamed Canadian wilderness. A network of hundreds of miles of old logging roads has been transformed into a unique, productive hunting territory.
We offer a semi guided experience game retrieval and skinning.
Our guides share the enjoyment of your hunt and will try to place you on sites that produce trophy size bears.
Our guides have many years of experience successfully hunting black bears and guiding successful hunters out of Blue Walleye Outpost. Our guides are very knowledgeable about black bears and their habits. They hunt many species throughout North America, but in May and June they focus on the black bears that roam the boreal forest of Abitibi-Temiscamingue.
Our guides pay special attention to the skills and needs of each hunter to adapt every bait site to the hunter's specific needs.
Our 2024 season produced an 80% success rate; we hosted 21 hunters and harvested 17.
Many above average size.
Our 2025 spring season hunts will be outstanding.
We are infested with bears.
SPRING BEAR HUNTING
There are many hunting opportunities at our lodge, the heart of what we offer is world-class black bear hunting with minimal pressure,
We use tree stands and ground blinds; (We encourage you to bring your safety harness) but we do have a supply at camp. Our stands are meticulously maintained with fresh bait and lure. Our guides will place you on an active site to optimize your chances and success.
Being the only outfitter in the area, we have no competition from other bear hunters.
The region we hunt is in the heart of Zone 13 East, which continues to have the highest number of bears harvested in Quebec. The extremely high number of bears per square kilometer is a key factor in our hunter's success. Traditionally more than 90% of our hunters have an opportunity to harvest a bear.
The very high density of bears in our area, combined with maintaining fresh bait sites daily, presents hunters with multiple opportunities to view bears and to harvest the bear of their choice.
We start bailing in the middle of May and except hunters till the end of June.
Hunters may use rifle, muzzleloader, bow or crossbow. If you are an archery hunter, you will love our up close and personal bait locations!
We are a small family-run operation and thrive on personalized service. To ensure quality service, we average 4 to 6 hunters per week. Our number of openings is limited, so book your hunt soon for the outdoors experience of a lifetime.
We have big freezers to freeze your trophy and meat for the trip home.
WOUNDING POLICY
The black bear is approximately 4 to 7 feet from nose to tail, and two to three feet high at the withers. It has small eyes, rounded ears, a long snout, a large body, a short tail, and shaggy hair. It differs from grizzly bears in being smaller with a smaller shoulder hump, a furred rear instep, a less concave facial profile, smaller claws that are more tightly curved, and longer, smoother, and more tapered ears.
BIRD HUNTING
Come up for a late season fishing trip and bring your shotgun. We offer spruce grouse and ruffed grouse hunting from the middle of September until camp closes in mid-October.
It's also a great time to hook into some really big fish.
MOOSE HUNTING
Our moose outpost camp is located in prime moose hunting territory.
We offer many Pre baited locations with salt licks and minerals.
Some locations have tree stands or blinds depending on hunt location
Our territory includes several lakes, Bogs and wetlands that moose thrive. The territory covers over a 50km radius of our main lodge.
We are a small family run operation and only book one group per week during Bow or rifle season.
